This is certainly true when it comes to influencing brands to make a switch in their packaging from single-use plastics and styrofoam to more sustainable packaging like 100% recycled paper packaging. It starts small and can spread over time to build a movement.<\/p>\n

Some Instagram users have already picked up new habits when purchasing their eggs from the supermarket. Many have chosen to purchase egg cartons that are made from 100% recycled paper packaging because they\u2019re recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable.<\/p>\n

There are 3.6 billion egg cartons produced in North America annually. Nearly half of these are still made from single-use plastics and polystyrene foam. Only 9% of all plastics are actually recycled, 12% is burned, and 79% of plastics and polystyrene foam sticks around and takes 1,000 years to decompose. 8 million tonnes of plastic, including plastic and polystyrene foam egg cartons, end up in the oceans and get swept out into plastic islands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Next time you\u2019re out shopping for groceries, make the switch and start purchasing your eggs in recycled egg cartons instead. Moulded fibre packaging is made from post consumer paper like newspaper and office paper. It is 100% recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
